About

Brad SchweitzerI became fascinated with woodturning several years ago. It all began one Thanksgiving holiday at my Dad’s house. My father, Butch, asked me, “Do you want to play darts?” With the simple answer, “Yes.” little did I know that I would need to make the darts first.

After making darts the rest of the day we finally played a game of darts. I barely remember playing darts, but I remember making a few pens the next couple of days. I was hooked. I quickly arranged to purchase my Delta Midi lathe, thanks to my wife Deanna.

Many of my favorite project are simple. A “plain” pen from a nice peice of wood can result in quick satisfaction. A detailed, well thought out, project with intricate cuts requires lots of patience while waiting for glue to dry. Then finally turning the project on the lathe is nerve racking and exciting at the same time. With a tiny error the hours of work can simply blow into tiny fragments. Of course, some of my best projects are the result of a “corrected error”. Woodturning is exciting because it can be simple and quick or slow and unpredictable. It is a little different each time.

“What is this HolyWoodWorker name all about?” you ask…. I found it to be a catchy little name. I created a web design company HolyWebMaker and thought I would keep the pattern going. The thought behind the name is a result of wanting to honor God in everything I do. While I may never really feel worthy, I do my best to work in that direction. The results of my work in the shop are hopefully a blessing to you. . .

Enjoy the projects I have on this website. Let me know if you have a special request. If you are a woodturner say “Hi”, enjoy my tips and let me know about some of your favorite tips.

God Bless!
