Artistic Maple Bowl

This piece is from a crotch in a small maple tree. One of the dead branches created the dark portion of the wood. I began this piece thinking I would keep the edges rough and crisp. After nearing the end I chose to soften some of the edges and make a portion of it round with some straight edges. Luckily a small part of the bark at the crotch remained. I sanded it starting with 150 up through 400. No micromesh this time and very little power sanding. The finish is nothing more than mineral oil.

This maple bowl is available in the product store.
